Meet Our Trainers

Julie Parker
Obedience Instructor, Owner

Julie has been sharing her knowledge and love of dogs for the past 10 years and in 2008 she launched Rocky Mountain Dog Training to further her passion for pets and their wellbeing. Julie completed a dog training course locally, with an emphasis on traditional training methods and dominance theory. She completed her apprenticeship but felt that something was lacking. Some of the dogs she was working around were so stressed by these techniques, and she was very concerned that the method she had been taught was contributing to the problem. Julie began investigating more positive approaches to training and made the switch to positive based, non-physical training. She joined the IPDTA (International Positive Dog Training Association) and has been studying Canine Communication Studies with the organization ever since. This was the solution she was looking for! Training for dogs without fear, force or pain! She's never looked back.

The IPDTA has been one of the greatest, most positive influences on Julie's training career. Training that used to be difficult on the dogs has been made fun, and easy to accomplish. When dogs are having fun, learning becomes a game, and retaining the information is much easier! Dogs enjoy working with their handlers and the success rate higher than with traditional methods.

People don't like to punish their beloved pets, but often are resort to it to try and decrease unwanted behaviors simply because they don't know what else to do. We want you to know that there are alternative methods that you can use without resorting to shouting, or punishing your pet. Julie can teach you how!

Julie is an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, completed her dog training course at DDW and has continued her education by attending various seminars, webinars, behavior courses and is currently studying Canine Communication Studies.
Julie is the Regional Director for the IPDTA.
