Meet Lola

I'm Lola, a 7-8 year old spayed, female purebred GSP.  I was found astray and picked up in Lakewood, CO… I’m so happy someone found me and took me in!  I hadn’t eaten for some time and was quite thin with a brittle coat.  I've since gained over 10 pounds and my coat now shines in the sun!  I am so thankful to be in a cozy foster home with other friendly dogs.  Because of what I’ve been through I have some anxiety…all that really means is that I don’t like to be kept in a crate and I express myself by “talking” and wagging my tail like crazy when I get excited!

I'm calm and well-mannered in the house when left alone and oh so easy to live with.  Sometimes when I’m home alone I go into the bedroom and grab my blanket, take it out in the living room and lie on it 'til my foster mom comes home… and sometimes I’ll bring her a toy when she walks in the door to show her how happy I am to see her!  I get along with most other dogs, but there are some that make me feel nervous and insecure, so I need an experienced owner to keep me in check.  My foster mom tells me I may not have been socialized much as a youngster.  I’m VERY affectionate and absolutely love every person I come in contact with.  Love and affection is my biggest want in life and I'll do whatever it takes to please my owner.  I catch on quickly—if there’s something you don’t want me to do, such as chase the cat, all you have to do is tell me so and I’ll listen!  I am a very special girl looking for a very special family to give me all that I deserve.

Update as of 1/14/10: I had a cancerous tumor removed last week and the good news is that there is over a 50% chance that I am completely cured because the margins were clean. I am a determined girl and hope to live to a ripe old age. But there's also just under a 50% chance that the cancer will return at some point.  Nothing has been spared as far as my medical treatment goes…I’ve had the best care provided for me.  I've also had my teeth cleaned and polished, had a painful tooth extracted and lab work has been completed. I'm in tip top shape and ready to find my permanent family!
